Knezevich Henao, 40, was reported missing in February after she failed to meet a friend in Madrid. Around the time she went missing, Rameau said she received a WhatsApp message from Knezevich Henao which read: “I met someone wonderful!! Two people who know the situation told CNN Knezevich Henao initially rented the apartment in Madrid from January 5 to February 5. CNN —An American soldier was detained in Russia last week on suspicion of theft and is currently being held in pre-trial detention, according to two US officials. “The Army notified his family and the U.S. Department of State is providing appropriate consular support to the Soldier in Russia. The soldier was stationed in South Korea when he took leave to travel to Russia on his own, according to another US official. A State Department official confirmed that a US citizen had been detained in Russia but would not provide further details. Last July, another soldier stationed in South Korea willingly crossed into North Korea where he was immediately detained.

Qantas, Australia’s national airline, said on Monday that it had reached a deal with the country’s consumer watchdog to pay the equivalent of $79 million for selling thousands of tickets to flights that it had already canceled. The airline said in a statement that the payments, totaling 120 million Australian dollars, would resolve a lawsuit that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission filed against Qantas over the issue last year. The commission accused the airline of advertising and selling tickets for more than 8,000 canceled flights from May 2021 through July 2022. The commission said Qantas had known that the flights would never take off, and that tickets remained available for an average of over two weeks after the flights were canceled — in some cases, for as long as 47 days. Qantas said it expected to pay 20 million Australian dollars in compensation to more than 86,000 of its customers, as well as a fine of 100 million dollars, subject to court approval.

The head of the Federal Aviation Administration on Friday said the agency will increase the required amount of rest time for air traffic controllers in response to concerns over fatigue amid a staffing shortage. "In my first few months at the helm of the FAA, I toured air traffic control facilities around the country — and heard concerns about schedules that do not always allow controllers to get enough rest," FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker said in a statement. A shortfall of air traffic controllers, made worse by a pause in hiring during the Covid-19 pandemic, has led to forced overtime and packed schedules for staff at some facilities. Air traffic controllers in the U.S. are required to retire at age 56. The announcement came alongside an FAA-ordered report on air traffic controller fatigue, which recommended the new rest requirements.

DUBAI — One of the world's busiest airports temporarily halted operations as the United Arab Emirates experienced its heaviest rainfall on record. The airport said road blockages and flooding have prevented many passengers from reaching the airport for departing flights. Fly Dubai, a budget carrier owned by the government of Dubai, suspended all flights from the UAE hub until 10 a.m. local time on April 17, citing extreme weather. The UAE saw over 100 mm of rain, a 75 year record since the UAE began recording rainfall. It also advised people to take preventative measures to avoid property damage from heavy rain and hailstorms.
